Such is Life

Well, here is my sob story. I am not writing this so everyone will leave me comments saying how sorry they are for my luck...but simply because I can laugh about it now and maybe you can too:)

So every year the company Zach works for takes everyone on a cruise. Well, of course, you can't take a baby under six months on the cruise. So I can't go because Abby doesn't understand how to use a bottle and must be with me at all times. No cruise for Katie. That's ok...but I might mention that I also missed an all-expense paid for trip to Belize earlier this year for work because I had Abby that same week. Boo.

So Zach and I decided that we were going to plan a vacation sometime this winter as a family. We still weren't sure where or when until last Monday. I was watching the Bachelor with my girl friends over at my friend Mykelle's house. Meanwhile her husband Riley was at my house hanging out with Zach. Well, long story short Riley suggested that we come to Cabo with them the following week. So, very last minute, we agreed and planned the trip and were super excited about it. This gave us 6 days to prepare. So immediately I found a company that could expedite passports for Andrew and Abby and for sure have them there in time for our trip. I booked our flights to leave Sunday, found great rates and had vouchers to use. We also found a time share available to rent from someone in the same place as our friends for a steal of a deal. All day Tuesday Zach and I drove all over freaking Utah county to round up all the documents we needed for the passports. Last step: FedEx them overnight to this company. The lady from the company was on the phone with me and said "ok I just emailed you the FedEx label, just print it, put everything in the envelope and this on the front". So I did. Very fast.

Well, three days later Zach sees a package sitting on our porch (which often is mistaken for our front door). He gets all excited that our passports are here and we are good to go. Opens the package and sees that everything we put together is still sitting in this package. We were super confused. Long story short we then realized that the MORON of a lady reversed the sender and recipient and I OVERNIGHTED IT ALL TO MYSELF! It had been sitting on our porch for two days. How depressing. So no trip to Cabo for the Hillsteads this year. With President's day weekend there is no way we could get them in time now. I did get our flights refunded, and my money back from the passport company. They offerred to expedite our passports for free for the future, so I will go ahead and do that. No BBB report for them from me...they tried to make up for it which was nice. However a lonely condo will be sitting in Cabo next week completely paid for and vacant. Boo. Ok sorry for the pitty party but I think the whole story is just unreal and had to share. Sometimes we just have a little bad luck I guess!

oh how sad I am for you! I'm sure you could use that vacation.....I sure could! Who knows, maybe you were not meant to go for some reason. No matter what the reasons are, that is such a bummer! Try not to be too sad :(

I can't believe that happened! When I was with you this time last week you were talking about who could go with you to watch the kids at night... it all crumbled so fast. So sorry.

That is devastating! What a huge let down. Love the kitchen knobs (by the way).
