Fourth of July

Yesterday was a pretty funny fourth of July. Jenna and Jake's friends Chad and Carly were in town and we had all planned on going down by the monuments to get a spot on the lawn for the fireworks a little early. We weren't sure how fast it would fill up down there. We decided to head down around 4:30. Well, by the time we got there and parked it was probably about 5:30 and was raining. We found a tree to sit under and hang out for a little bit hoping that the rain would subside...well it did and we continued on over to the Washington Monument. We laid out all of our blankets and just hung out for about an hour. The whole time we kept saying how it was the perfect weather because the rain had stopped and had made it cool out. Spoke too soon. All of a sudden we see dark clouds in the sky. We made a game plan that if it started raining we would sit in the middle where all four of our blankets met and pull the corners up around us. Pretty much we made a cave and sat in it for 45 min at least...I lost track of time. It was SO MUGGY, and we still got wet, Andrew was going crazy being confined in a hot nasty blanket cave. But the whole time we could not stop laughing. Eventually the rain stopped and then Jake and Zach came just in time for the fireworks. If you have never been to DC on the 4th of July, I HIGHLY recommend it. They were the most amazing fireworks I have EVER seen! Here are some pics...I have become too lazy lately to put caption under each picture....but notice the ones of Andrew are hilarious. He was so tired, as you will see from some pics...and there are some great ones of him staring at the fireworks. He loved them....but not the noise so much. All in all it was quite a memorable one for us:)
