Last Minute D.C. Trip!

Normally we would be home by now from our summer away for Zach's job. This year we decided to stay and do one month of the "extended season". Zach doesn't start school until January, so we figured we might as well just stay another month! Between the last week of the "summer season" and the start of the "extended season" we decided to go down to D.C. for two days and a night. We are living in a perfect spot. Only an hour from Baltimore and two hours from D.C. Lucky us! Our favorite summers were spent in D.C. so we were really excited to take a little trip back. On our way down we stopped at Towson Mall in Baltimore for a little shopping. After that we went to the National Aquarium...which by the way is kind of a joke! We didn't know that obviously and were so excited to go, but it was SOOOO small. We still enjoyed it though, but when I am used to the Atlanta aquarium...nothing compares. After that we had dinner in Georgetown and then stayed here:

The Mayflower!

Unfortunately I really only took pictures at the aquarium, but we still got some good ones:)
I have realized lately that Abby is an animal LOVER! She freaks out whenever she sees a dog, and just wants to touch them non-stop. Quite the opposite of Andrew who is petrified of dogs. Hopefully she won't have any traumatic experiences with dogs like Andrew did last year. I loved how excited she would get to see the fish and reptiles through the glass.

We met up with our friends the Elders in D.C. Their son Dax is one of Andrew's little buddies. They had fun at the aquarium together!

Was it the Baltimore aquarium? I love that one but I only have the Sandy one to compare to and that one is so tiny!

I thought the same thing about the Baltimore aquarium. I can't believe how big Abby is!! Can't wait until you get home and we can get the kids together. Enjoy your extended season!!!

oh bummer, the national aquarium is SO lame. and SO small. I bet your kids still loved it though. Hope the extension is going well--and that it goes by quickly for you!

ha, ha i thought the same thing about the DC aquarium. i think some people consider baltimore's aquarium the 'national' aquarium even though it's outside of DC. glad you guys enjoyed your trip here! -jen

I know everyone else has mentioned it, but it seems like I remember the Balt. Aquarium being fun...just kind of expensive. I've never even been to the National Aquarium...now I know not to bother!
