When we were in Ohio we had the chance to go to the Thomas the Train on the railroad there, and we had the chance to do it again in PA last week! As much as we had fun at the Ohio one, I have to say this one blew that one out of the water. It was one of my favorite things we have done all summer. Thomas came to the Strasburg Railroad near Lancaster. It is an extremely old railroad and I was so impressed of how much they have taken care of it and preserved it. The train itself was so pretty inside. They had tons of activities to do after the ride on Thomas as well. I think these pictures speak for themselves of how excited Andrew was to see Thomas and ride the train.
We went with Andrew's friend Dax and his parents. Dax has been Andrew's little buddy all summer.
When this train conductor started coming around to check our tickets I told Andrew he was Sir Topham Hat (one of the characters on Thomas the Train). His eyes about popped out of their sockets. This picture cracks me up because if you look at Andrew he is watching this guy like a hawk. He could NOT believe it was him.
I love this picture because of the scenery out the window. We are literally surrounded by farms. I am starting to get sad to leave it. It was an adjustment being so far out in the country, but now I love it and am so sad to leave it!
These little karts were one of the activities Andrew begged to do after we rode Thomas. He loved this.
We also got to ride on a little mini steam engine. This is Andrew looking over the side of his cart. He was in train heaven.
Then we waited in line to meet the REAL Sir Topham Hat. Andrew was PETRIFIED of him. I don't know why but he is seriously so scared of dressed up characters of any kind. I'll admit though...this guy is a little creepy looking!
We went and had lunch in a tent after all the rides. This man was jammin on his guitar. It was so fun, he had all these little instruments sitting around him and the kids could go up and play with him.

That reminds me of my nephew when he was about that age. We were staying somewhere with them and one night he yelled out "I need Gordon's tender!" We thought it was hilarious. What three year old knows the word "tender". Apparently they had lost it and it was a big deal.
I seriously love how you talk about how much Andrew loves Thomas. It makes me laugh. He is so dang cute. They did a "Thomas Days" thing like that in Baltimore and I took Damon a couple years ago. He loved it, but probably not nearly as much as your little guy! ha!
